Our 7 Point Proposal for Venom in Strive 2.0
PROPOSAL 1: Return Double Head Morbid
This was a really fun move where Venom closed the distance on his opponent with a courageous pool cue spin. This move was considered pretty worthless in +R and Rev2, just look at these (basically) direct quotes more-or-less in context.
In order to balance this move for Strive, we propose adding 1 hit of armor beginning on Frame 5. This aligns with Arcsys' stated goal of "Wild Balance".
PROPOSAL 2: Pool Balls Should Reflect Projectiles
Right now only two characters can deflect projectiles in Strive: Faust and Potemkin.
It's a tough call, I know.
This would give Venom a fun anti-zoning tool and it just feels right. Given this entire website was put together in the amount of time it took Venom to place the balls with his 41236K, it would not be overpowered.
PROPOSAL 3: Tryambaka Should Be an Instant Kill
Since the days of Guilty Gear X, it has been clearly established that turning an individual into a pool ball is instant death. Tryambaka creates an inconsistency in the lore and the scaling isn't proportionate the the difficulty to land the throw.
RIP Zato/Eddie
RIP Zato
See Dustloop:
It's hard to reconcile why Arcsys would spend all the time to make these cute ball animations just to make them almost impossible to see. I've seen every character with an afro more times than I can count, but when is the last time anyone saw their favorite character in pool ball form?
PROPOSAL 4: Give Venom An Invincible Reversal
To be clear, we aren't asking for a meterless reversal (although it would make him A-Tier at minimum if he had one). Venom can't be expected to thrive when he has to survive on system mechanics alone for defense.
PROPOSAL 5: Give Venom Yo-Yo's
If anyone references Page 62 of the Guilty Gear Codex, they will see that Venom has attempted to use Yo-Yo's as a weapon, just like Bridget.
You only need to make a cursory review of Strive discourse to know that Bridget is really popular. Heck, she has her own section on the Arcsys merch store: https://www.arcshopus.com/collections/bridget-collection
As this is a fighting game, the logical conclusion is that Bridget's popularity is based, primarily, on her fighting. Bridget fights with Yo-Yo's, so we can easily extrapolate that if Venom used Yo-Yo's as well then he would be more popular. If he was more popular, than Arcsys would be more likely to take his plight seriously.
Mad Struggle is aware the Bridget's popularity has not caused her to rise to the top tiers.
PROPOSAL 6: Give Venom Back Venom Rocket No. 13
Are you aware that Venom had a scrapped overdrive move with a robot army? This move was only available in the Gameboy Advance Edition of Guilty Gear X.
This move was allegedly secretly created by Daisuke who programmed it into the game without the knowledge of staff.

Why would Daisuke do this? It makes no sense. Venom didn't have anything to do with robots and technology at this time. Was he really hinting this early on at Venom and Robo-Ky's eventual partnership?
Now is the time to add a new overdrive version of this move. Make it a 100% tension move which gives Venom an option for massive damage and screen control. Who would complain?
PROPOSAL 7: Bring Back the Opera House Stage
Imagine a Strive version of the Rev2 Opera stage. Then give it a wall break stage transition into the Zato/Eddie/Venom Hell stage of +R. Imagine if you could even play this stage online without the game falling apart. We've seen enough Council of Three to last a lifetime.
